This is a simple on-line cost model for estimating the number of person-months required to develop software. The model also estimates the development schedule in months and produces an effort and schedule distribution by major phases. This model is based on Barry Boehm's Constructive Cost Model (COCOMO). This is the top-level model, Basic COCOMO, which is applicable to the large majority of software projects.

El presente trabajo hace referencia a las tareas que desarrolla el Grupo de Trabajo Forestal de Desarrollo Sostenible perteneciente al Proyecto CYTED “Evaluación y potenciación del papel de las Infraestructuras de Datos Espaciales en el desarrollo sostenible en América Latina y el Caribe”; orientadas hacia la creación de una metodología para el perfeccionamiento del Sistema de Información Geográfica Nacional Forestal de Cuba, mediante el uso de descripciones semánticas geoespaciales dentro del dominio forestal basadas en ontologías.

Methontology [Fernández97] is a methodology for ontology construction. To improve its applicability it adopted some ideas from the more mature Software Engineering discipline. More concretely, its ontology development process is based on the activities identified in the IEEE standard for software development [Schultz97]. These activities are scheduled by the Methontology ontology life cycle that establishes the stages through which the ontology moves during its life time and the activities to be performed in each stage. Both parts of Methontology are detailed next.
